Frank Lloyd Wright - "The Women" by TC Boyle

On my nightstand right now is "The Women" written by T.C. Boyle - a fascinating story about Frank Lloyd Wright and the women in his life. I have always been a fan of FLLW and his architecture (I even worked briefly for the FLLW Home & Studio in the late '90s and was a volunteer interpreter/docent of his Oak Park Home & Studio for many many years). FLLW was a visionary with amazing ideas, so far ahead of his time and so "not" understood by others of his era. I am completely fascinated by his ability to design homes and buildings as one with nature. I have been blessed to have traveled to both Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin and Phoenix, Arixona, as well as Fallingwater in Pennsylvania. How he transposed his sketches to reality back in the early to mid-1900s is nothing but brilliance. Yet underneath the architecture and design was a soap opera of a life filled with drama (and mistresses, drug addictions, bankruptcy, murder). You can purchase the book ...

"Hi! How are you?" . . . "Ummmm . . . fine, thanks."

Why is it that I always get myself into predicaments . . . at Walgreens?!? Today I stopped for a bottle of ibuprofen (one of those mornings) and as I walked to the register I saw a woman who looked VERY familiar. I thought she was my mom's friend, Bernie (the same Bernie who was in my house just days ago - visiting my mom, who is here recouperating from knee surgery.) I said, "HI!!!! Wow! I can't believe I am running into you so soon!! How are you?" Bernie looked at me with quite a puzzled look on her face. . . . for a long time . . . "Ummmm. . . I'm fine, thanks." Well, I'm no dummy. I realized that Bernie really didn't want to say hello to me. Perhaps she was having a bad morning. So I said, "Well, have a great day!" and walked away. It wasn't until I got to the register and the cashier said, "Oh, you know Jean ? " that I realized Bernie wasn't Bernie afterall. Well . . . whoever you are Jean , I hope you di...

Here we go!!!!

What to say? What to say? Starting a new venture in the blog world - From Chaos comes Happiness . That's my life. I'm a wife, mom, sister, friend, daughter, just like many of you . . . looking for a means to put my thoughts out there for the world to see. Perhaps I'm putting them out there for myself - who knows? Whatever it is, I am absolutely motivated by the stories of amazing women that I come across by the click of a button and thought I would, perhaps, send some positive energy out into this world and do the same. Although my stories are by far superb . . . I hope they reach someone to warm a heart and bring a smile. Not quite sure where this journey will take me or how long I'll enjoy the ride - but I thank you for reading today and hope to bring a smile to you tomorrow. Until then . . .
