Last month we took a little weekend jaunt to Wisconsin where we had lots and lots of family fun. While our adventure included a great day at the State Fair, we followed it with an equally great day at the Milwaukee County Zoo.


Did you know that you can actually FEED THE BIRDS at the Milwaukee County Zoo? Seriously! It was probably the most fun I have ever had at a Zoo. At first, I screamed like a nutball (those of you who really know me know that I am not that much of an animal person . . . I mean, please don't go all "PETA" on me . . . I do not own fur and do not intentionally run over squirrels when they cross in front of my car on the road. However, accidents do happen!!! I'm kidding!!!! . . . sort of . . . .) But, being caged in with the birds at the zoo was absolutely and completely. . . FANTASTIC!!!! I screamed when the first one landed on my stick (and got a few laughs from other folks in the cage). But I quickly got the hang of it and soon was a regular Bird Whisperer!!!! I'm telling you, those birdies LOVED me!!!

It really was a fantastic adventure! One I would strongly recommend for anyone who had a day and wanted to take a little drive up to Wisconsin. Let me know if you are going. . . I'll tell you all of my Bird Whisperer secrets!

Have you ever heard of a Smash Book? If you are a scrapbooker or art journal person, you may have. If you are not one of those types, you may not have. I am a scrapbooker . . . but had no idea what a Smash Book was. That is, until my dear friend Peggy brought hers to our Scrapbook Cellar gathering last month. Any day now . . . Any day now . . . we will see you in all your glory, and the memory of past Springs will become our reality once again.  Any day now . . . I will walk passed you and be reminded of that scene in "Willie Wonka" . . . Gene Wilder as "Willie Wonka" image obtained from Google Image Search. Original site unknown. . . . when Gene Wilder drinks something (that I like to imagine is the sweetest, butteriest, most amazing thing) from a buttercup, and I'll wish just once I could do the same with you. Any day now . . . I will turn the corner of our block and find you waiting for me with your petals wide open, as if wanting to give me a Spring hug, and your scent will make me feel as if the heavens have opened up and sprinkled sweet smells over us all. Hot Off The Presses! A fanTAStic Weekend Treat!

Howdy Friends!!! Hope this post finds you all doing well! As part of my blog series "100 Things to Do with Grapes"  (STOP - wait a minute .... are you kidding me??? I don't have a blog series about grapes!!! Oh - but just imagine if I did!!!), I just had to share with you one of my very all time favorite summer treats . . .  Ok, are you even slightly interested? Hang in there with me, ok? Because this easy, summer "yum" is bound to be a favorite of YOURS!!!! That is . . . unless you have a peanut allergy. If you have a peanut allergy, I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST making this treat. (Come back Monday for another more appropriate post for you.) If you DON'T have peanut allergy . . . run to the store RIGHT NOW and pick up these three things . . . Seriously . . . it only takes these three things; green grapes, lightly salted dry roasted peanuts, and a bag of white chips. Seriously . . . that is all!
