Happy Halloween!

Today we are deep in the Halloween festivities as we prepare for 14 family members to gather and have some fun. I've been really surprised this year by the people who have become so anti-Halloween, but it's alright - I truly support whatever you choose to do, or not do, in your home.

In our home, Halloween is NOT a day to celebrate death or evil things, it is NOT a day to beg for anything from anyone, it is NOT a day to judge anyone.

It is a day for our family to have some silly fun. . .

To dress up as whatever we want. . .


And a day for me to wear my ridiculous headband while making silly cakes, ghost cookies, witches brew punch, hot dog "bug" bites, pin the nose on the pumpkin games, Halloween charades games, and a super big pot of chili for all to enjoy.


(Sorry about the photo without the make-up. Katie wanted to take my picture. While I do have my headband on, I'm not completely ready for our guests. You get the idea, though. I LOVE this headband. How can I NOT enjoy this day - as I wear this???) However you spend the day - I wish you some laughter and fun with you and yours.

Have you ever heard of a Smash Book? If you are a scrapbooker or art journal person, you may have. If you are not one of those types, you may not have. I am a scrapbooker . . . but had no idea what a Smash Book was. That is, until my dear friend Peggy brought hers to our Scrapbook Cellar gathering last month. She introduced us all to her cool little composition journal, and the conversation went something like this: PK :  Here is my Smash book. Me : Your what? PK : My Smash Book. Me : Like, smash, what? PK : Smash . . . things. You know. Like, stuff. Me : What? PK : See . . . I will put stuff in here. Junk. Things I don't want to lose, but don't know what to do with. Me : Huh? PK : Smash. Any day now . . . Any day now . . . we will see you in all your glory, and the memory of past Springs will become our reality once again.  Any day now . . . I will walk passed you and be reminded of that scene in "Willie Wonka" . . . Gene Wilder as "Willie Wonka" image obtained from Google Image Search. Original site unknown. . . . when Gene Wilder drinks something (that I like to imagine is the sweetest, butteriest, most amazing thing) from a buttercup, and I'll wish just once I could do the same with you. Any day now . . . I will turn the corner of our block and find you waiting for me with your petals wide open, as if wanting to give me a Spring hug, and your scent will make me feel as if the heavens have opened up and sprinkled sweet smells over us all. Hot Off The Presses! A fanTAStic Weekend Treat!

Howdy Friends!!! Hope this post finds you all doing well! As part of my blog series "100 Things to Do with Grapes"  (STOP - wait a minute .... are you kidding me??? I don't have a blog series about grapes!!! Oh - but just imagine if I did!!!), I just had to share with you one of my very all time favorite summer treats . . .  Ok, are you even slightly interested? Hang in there with me, ok? Because this easy, summer "yum" is bound to be a favorite of YOURS!!!! That is . . . unless you have a peanut allergy.
