HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY

ELLA FRANCES!!!

Three years ago the world became a little brighter when my Ella Frances joined it. Since then, my life has been even better than before (when I didn't even know it could be). In three years, she has taught me that:

  • Having your face held in the hands of a child is the best feeling there is.
  • Being told "You're a Great Mommy" by a 2 year old can make everything worth it.
  • WASHABLE markers are really the very best invention in the world.
  • MR. CLEAN DRY ERASERS are the second very best invention.
  • The Wizard of Oz is really a magical movie.
  • Playing with flour is really so much fun.
  • Two dimples can get you absolutely anything.
  • The Wii game CAN be conquered by a toddler.
  • There is nothing wrong with eating cookie dough.
  • "Tooting" done by a 2 year old can be very funny.
  • Hannah Montana does have some great music.
  • It is OK to not rock your child to sleep - they will learn how to put themselves to sleep on their own.
  • PG really is the very best Father I've ever met.
  • "We're All Family" are the sweetest words I've ever heard.
  • and that the biggest lesson I've learned from Ella the past three years . . .

I actually can do this Mom thing.
SHE is proof of it. SHE is wonderful.

    Happy Birthday EB!!!! You really have been a joy to watch these last 3 years, even if it's mostly watching you through Daddy's great pics and Mommy's scrapbook pages!!!

    Ella is just a joy and she just makes our hearts feel good -- she's the daughter CT and I never had! Happy Happy Happy Birthday, sweet Ella Bella!!!

Have you ever heard of a Smash Book? If you are a scrapbooker or art journal person, you may have. If you are not one of those types, you may not have. I am a scrapbooker . . . but had no idea what a Smash Book was. That is, until my dear friend Peggy brought hers to our Scrapbook Cellar gathering last month. She introduced us all to her cool little composition journal, and the conversation went something like this: PK :  Here is my Smash book. Me : Your what? PK : My Smash Book. Me : Like, smash, what? PK : Smash . . . things. You know. Like, stuff. Me : What? PK : See . . . I will put stuff in here. Junk. Things I don't want to lose, but don't know what to do with. Me : Huh? PK : Smash. Me : I don't get it. PK : Google it. CE (our friend, Cindi, who just entered the conversation and saw was PK was holding): Oh, a Smash Book! Cool! Me : Huh? CE : Google it. LT (my sister, Laura, who is right there with me): I don't get it. So, I googled it.

Any day now . . . Any day now . . . we will see you in all your glory, and the memory of past Springs will become our reality once again.  Any day now . . . I will walk passed you and be reminded of that scene in "Willie Wonka" . . . Gene Wilder as "Willie Wonka" image obtained from Google Image Search. Original site unknown. . . . when Gene Wilder drinks something (that I like to imagine is the sweetest, butteriest, most amazing thing) from a buttercup, and I'll wish just once I could do the same with you. Any day now . . . I will turn the corner of our block and find you waiting for me with your petals wide open, as if wanting to give me a Spring hug, and your scent will make me feel as if the heavens have opened up and sprinkled sweet smells over us all. Hot Off The Presses! A fanTAStic Weekend Treat!

Howdy Friends!!! Hope this post finds you all doing well! As part of my blog series "100 Things to Do with Grapes"  (STOP - wait a minute .... are you kidding me??? I don't have a blog series about grapes!!! Oh - but just imagine if I did!!!), I just had to share with you one of my very all time favorite summer treats . . .  Ok, are you even slightly interested? Hang in there with me, ok? Because this easy, summer "yum" is bound to be a favorite of YOURS!!!! That is . . . unless you have a peanut allergy. If you have a peanut allergy, I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST making this treat. (Come back Monday for another more appropriate post for you.)
